Man killed ‘trying to beat Brightline train’ in Hollywood

A pedestrian lost his race with a Brightline train Thursday night and was killed while trying to cross railroad tracks in Hollywood, authorities said. The 43-year-old man was struck about 6:30 p.m. while trying to beat the train at Garfield Road and Dixie Highway, said Battalion Chief Chris Del Campo, spokesman for Hollywood Fire Rescue. Reward offered in fatal shooting of 18-year-old Pembroke Pines man

Pembroke Pines police on Thursday identified the man who was shot to death in a residential community in January. He was 18-year-old Ameer Mustafa.
