
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Winter 2026 semester was a record-breaking one for the Nova Southeastern Athletic Department, as it posted the highest winter departmental grade point average to date with a 3.50 GPA. The 3.50 mark falls just shy of the department record 3.52 cumulative GPA set in the fall. It marks the 32nd consecutive semester the department has achieved a departmental GPA above 3.00 and the 13th consecutive semester about a 3.40.
“Reaching the highest winter departmental GPA in program history represents a significant milestone for our department and reflects the continued dedication of our student-athletes in the classroom,” Nova Southeastern University Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services Dr. Deanna Rivero said. “Their ability to balance the demands of academics and athletics continues to set a strong standard across all programs. This achievement also speaks to the collective support of our coaches, academic staff, and campus partners, who work collaboratively to foster an environment centered on long-term academic success. I am extremely proud of this accomplishment and grateful to be a part of department that continues to raise the standard.”
85.8 percent of Shark student-athletes posted a 3.0 GPA or better, while 51 student-athletes had a perfect 4.0, the highest total to date. 123 student-athletes had a 3.80 or better, the highest number to date, which garnered distinction on the Director’s List. 225 student-athletes were named Scholar Athletes with a 3.25 or better.
The Tennis (3.75), Women’s Cross Country (3.75), Men’s Cross Country (3.72), Volleyball (3.72) and Women’s Golf (3.72) teams posted the top team GPAs, with Women’s Tennis earning a national championship in the process.
In the 2025-26 academic year, the Nova Southeastern Athletics Department boasted its highest departmental annual GPA of 3.51. NSU earns its 24th consecutive year with a departmental GPA above 3.00 and 14th consecutive year with a departmental GPA above 3.15. Most recently, NSU has enjoyed the success of six consecutive years with a departmental GPA above 3.40.
This year, 87 student-athletes earned a degree from Nova Southeastern University with 45 student-athletes being inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.
The following teams earned their highest team GPA on record: Men’s Basketball (Fall 2025, Annual GPA – 3.31), Men’s Cross Country (Fall 2025, Winter 2026, Annual GPA – 3.72), Women’s Cross Country (Fall 2025, Winter 2026, Annual GPA – 3.75), Women’s Soccer (Fall 2025, Annual GPA – 3.67), Men’s Swimming (Fall 2025, Annual GPA – 3.40), Men’s Track (Fall 2025, Winter 2026, Annual GPA – 3.57), and Volleyball (Fall 2025 – 3.72).
With the 2025-2026 academic year behind them, the Athletic Department will look to carry this momentum into 2026-2027, as the fall semester and competitions commence.
