ORLANDO, Fla. – For the first time in ten years, Nova Southeastern’s women sit atop the Sunshine State Conference as winners of the 2025-26 SSC Mayors’ Cup.
The Mayors’ Cup, which awards the best athletic department overall athletically throughout the school year, is awarded annually to both a Men’s and Women’s department amongst the 11 member institutions of the SSC.
Mayors’ Cup scoring is based on regular season finish for sports with conference standings and championship finish for cross county, track, golf, rowing, and swimming.
Once points are awarded, it is averaged by the number of sports that school competed in to get a final number.
Nova Southeastern’s women finished with 74 points across ten SSC sponsored sports for an average of 7.4 points per sport. NSU finished ahead of runners-up Tampa and Embry-Riddle, which ended with an average of 6.833 and 5.850 points, respectively.
Highlighting the Sharks’ Mayors’ Cup victory was soccer, golf and basketball which each earned at least nine points with soccer clinching 11 points as the highest single point-getter amongst NSU’s teams.
On the other side, the NSU Men finished third in the SSC Mayors’ Cup standings with a respectable 6.786 points across seven sports. The Sharks slotted in just behind Florida Southern with 6.889 points, and SSC Mayors’ Cup winner, Tampa, with seven points exactly.
