General Daily Insight for October 15, 2024 This morning may feel like a continuation of our dreams. This is due to Luna conjoining dreamy Neptune in Neptune’s home sign, Pisces, heightening our intuition and creativity. Finally, harmonious Venus supports Neptune at 8:49 pm, making it easier to monetize art, find healing in all different relationships, and balance ourselves wherever we’ve... Read More

For Broward students, this means the fall semester, which was supposed to end before winter break, could be stretched out to January. Other options... Read More

Sukkot: Recommitting ourselves through Hakhel | Commentary
Every seven years, immediately after the Sabbatical year, on the first of the intermediate days of Sukkot, the Israelites gathered to publicly hear the king reading from the Torah. This is called the mitzvah of Hakhel (Deuteronomy 31:10–13). The Sabbatical year is a period of reevaluation, a year to recharge ourselves spiritually. Hakhel may have been instituted to prepare the Israelites to return to their everyday lives by listening to the Torah and integrating its values into their work... Read More
My Friend, Bill Pannell
I first met the late William Pannell in 1993 in a hallway of Christianity Today. I was in my early 20s, just a year removed from graduating college. Dr. Pannell was visiting his old friend, former CT president Paul Robbins, and the pair was on a leisurely tour around the office. I remember being enthralled by this dashing Black man in a tailored suit, his throaty laugh echoing around the building. Excited to see a young Black editor on CT’s payroll, Pannell greeted me with that winsome... Read More
