Suspended Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel has filed a court petition challenging the legal authority of Gov. Ron DeSantis, who removed him from office, court documents show. Fatal crash slows southbound I-95 through Fort Lauderdale

Delays on southbound I-95 extend back to Sunrise Boulevard because of a pre-dawn crash near Griffin Road that the Florida Highway Patrol says involved a fatality. A man who Hollywood police say worked as the band director at South Broward High School is accused of having a sexual affair with a teenage student at the school. Ricardo Emanuel Esquilin, 28, had an inappropriate relationship with the 17-year-old girl between early November and the end of December of last year, according to a Hollywood police arrest report. I-95 southbound slow through Fort Lauderdale due to pre-dawn crash

Delays were light but building on southbound Interstate 95 through Fort Lauderdale because of a pre-dawn crash. The crash, just south of the exit to Griffin Road (Exit 23), was reported shortly before 4:30 a.m. and was blocking at least two right lanes.
