Delays on southbound I-95 extend back to Sunrise Boulevard because of a pre-dawn crash near Griffin Road that the Florida Highway Patrol says involved a fatality.
The crash, just south of the exit to Griffin Road (Exit 23), was reported shortly before 4:30 a.m.
The sedan that crash left the travel lanes and landed on its side, on the grassy shoulder off the highway.
Details about the crash were not immediately available.
A second nearby southbound crash, in the Express Lanes, has since cleared but contributed to the persisting delays.
As alternates, drivers can use Florida’s Turnpike, University Drive or State Road 7 to the west of I-95 or Federal Highway (U.S. 1) to the east.
