Two Sharks Named SSC Athletes of the Week

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference announced the Players of the Week for the week of October 9 – October 15, on Monday afternoon. Nova Southeastern Sharks student-athletes Madison Cook (Volleyball) and Emily Trieschmann (Women’s Swimming) earned honors following their performances this past week.    

Cook earned the sixth Setter of the Week honor of her career and second for the 2023 campaign. The Oviedo, Florida product began the week with a match-high 54 assists in a 3-1 victory at Barry. She then posted a match-high 36 assists as the Sharks bested Florida Tech in four sets and a match-high 32 assists in a sweep of Rollins over the weekend. The graduate student averaged 11.1 assists and 2.2 digs per set while leading NSU to three wins and a .83 team-hitting percentage over the three contests.

Trieschmann repeats as Swimmer of the Week after being named the High Point Award recipient at the Shark Invitational. The Lake Worth, Florida product won the 200 free (1:50.66) and the 500 free (4:57.67) and took second in the 200 medley relay (1:45.35), 1000 free (10:15.38), and the 400 free relay (3:29.41). The weekly award is the fifth of her career.
