Miami-Dade County along with all of South Florida moved outside the forecast cone for Hurricane Ian, the National Hurricane Center said.
The system is strengthened into a hurricane Monday morning. A portion of the west coast of Florida from north of Englewood to the Anclote River, including Tampa and St. Petersburg, is under a hurricane watch. The storm is forecast to be a major hurricane — Category 3 of higher — in the early morning hours of Thursday when it is near Tampa Bay.
