COVID-19 update: Florida reports 17,612 new cases, increases death toll by 720

The rate of COVID vaccinations has fallen to its lowest level in more than a year. The 7-day average for daily vaccinations declined to 33,270 on Thursday, CDC data shows. The last time it was lower than that was Jan. 7, 2021, in the earliest days of vaccinations. At the peak of the omicron wave, the state was average 118,177 vaccinations per day. About 65.1% of Floridians are fully vaccinated and 36.7% have received booster shots.
