Retired Navy veteran Robert Claudy at his Orlando home on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. When Claudy was 20 years old he had a brush with death in a sinking sub in the Artic Ocean during the Cold War with Russia in 1949. The deadly accident was reported in some US papers and Claudy, a lifelong Orlando resident, sent a telegram home to calm his parents if they had read about the tragedy of the clandestine mission.
