As of 2 p.m. Monday, forecasters spotted the surface trough of low pressure a few hundred miles south of the Cabo Verde Islands, bringing disorganized showers and thunderstorms with it. The system is expected to move north or northwest before hitting cooler waters by Thursday, forecasters said.
