Skyline specializes in Greek-style, cinnamon-spiced beef chili, which is ladled over spaghetti and stubby hot dogs known as “Coneys.” Chili spaghetti is dubbed “3-way, 4-way or 5-way” with the addition of shredded cheddar cheese, diced onions and beans. Chili spaghetti sprouted in Cincinnati in the early 20th Century, created by Greek immigrants. Skyline was founded in 1949 by a former employee of Empress Chili. Other famous Cincinnati chili parlors include Camp Washington, Gold Star and Blue Ash. The stuff isn’t for everyone (it should be regarded more as aromatic meat sauce than classic American chili), but I regard a wet 4-way with onions as one of my guilty food pleasures.
