A man is dead after he was hit by two cars while crossing an Oakland Park road Saturday.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office is now looking for a Mazda 6 sedan in connection with the double hit-and-run. Deputies found the second vehicle but did not say if the driver was arrested.
The fatal collision took place about 4:30 a.m. Saturday near the 1800 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The man, who has not been identified, was crossing the road when a car heading west in the far right lane hit him. The driver left the scene.
After that, the man was prone and a Honda Civic hit him again before fleeing the scene.
“The Civic driver, who also left the scene, was later located by BSO detectives and is cooperating with the investigation,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Oakland Park Fire Rescue pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Authorities ask anyone with information about the incident to call Detective Michael Wiley at 954-321-4205 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-8477.
