Teen skateboarder killed after being struck by car in Fort Lauderdale

A teenager was killed Sunday evening in a skateboarding accident in Fort Lauderdale, WPLG-Ch. 10 reported.

The 15-year-old collided with a car at Northwest Ninth Avenue while riding a skateboard and was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital, the station reported.

Just after 9 p.m., the road was shut down between Sunrise Boulevard and Northwest 12th Street, Fort Lauderdale Police said on Twitter.

Neither the driver nor the teen were identified by police Sunday.
