Game on, South Florida! Activate digital-gaming amusement park coming to Pembroke Pines

Activate is about to go live … and the timing couldn’t be better.

‘Tis the season when SoFlo summertime heat goes from a soft simmer to scorching sizzle, so it’s timely that the indoor (air-conditioned!) digital-gaming amusement park will open in Pembroke Pines on July 31.

This second Florida location — the first opened in Orlando earlier this year — will feature 14 high-tech game rooms that combine immersive cyber playability with physical challenges. Players can track their progress with electronic wristbands that log every achievement throughout the 11,009-square-foot space.

“Activate is redefining what entertainment can look like in the digital age,” cofounder and CEO Adam Schmidt told the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “By fusing technology and challenges for your brain and body, we’ve created an experience unlike anything else in South Florida — and Pembroke Pines is the perfect launchpad for this next wave of immersive play.”

Activate launched in 2017 and now has more than 40 locations across North America, Dubai and the United Kingdom. The global headquarters are in Winnipeg, Canada.

Other SoFlo indoor experiences that recreate outdoor adventure include iFly in Davie, Flying Squirrel Trampoline Park in Weston, ProjectRock in Oakland Park, Xtreme Action Park in Fort Lauderdale, Diadem Pickleball Complex in Coconut Creek, X-Golf in West Palm Beach, and Cordial — Fun Depot in Lake Worth Beach.
