A Plantation man died in a head-on collision near 4600 Peters Road on Wednesday night, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
The man, David Ramsden, 45, had been driving a 2003 Honda Accord westbound on Peters Road at around 10:14 p.m., approaching a construction zone near the intersection of Southwest 46th Avenue.
A release Sunday from the Broward Sheriff’s Office states its initial investigation found Ramsden “aggressively maneuvered around traffic warning signs and other vehicles into the designated left turn lane at the intersection” and then speeded west through the intersection.
The Honda struck a median and continued traveling westbound. A 2023 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup, driven by Steven Bell, 43, of Fort Lauderdale, was parked just west of the median in a left turn lane.
The front of the Honda crashed into the front of the Ram. The Honda spun around clockwise and stopped near the crash site. The Ram was thrown westbound and halted in the left eastbound lane of Peters Road.
The Plantation Police Department officers and Plantation Fire Rescue came to the scene. Broward deputies and Broward traffic homicide detectives also responded.
Paramedics took Ramsden to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Bell was treated at the scene.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the crash.
