Broward man accused of extorting 14-year-old girl for explicit photos

A Broward County man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly threatened to post explicit photos of a girl on social media if she did not send him more, deputies said.

Ygremerley Murat, 20, of North Lauderdale, began soliciting nude photos from a 14-year-old girl late last year, when the Broward Sheriff’s Office’s Internet Crimes Against Children began investigating a tip.

Murat started by commenting on the girl’s social media posts and complimenting her, and eventually asked for nude photos, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Wednesday. She sent them, and Murat started sending her threatening messages for more. He allegedly threatened to post the photos online if she did not follow his demand.

The girl stopped messaging with Murat and told her mother about the photos and threat, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Detectives received a warrant and searched Murat’s home on Tuesday. They found multiple videos of minor girls involved in sexual acts, the Sheriff’s Office said. Murat confessed after the videos were discovered.

Murat was held in the Broward Main Jail as of Wednesday, facing one count of extortion and one count of solicitation of a child using a computer or device.

Court records and attorney information was not available Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities ask anyone with information to call Det. Rolando Abreu at 954-595-0869.
