Young boy hospitalized after being shot in the foot, fire rescue says

A young boy was taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after he was shot in the foot, a Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue official said.

The boy, about 4 years old, was taken to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale about 2 p.m. with injuries that were not life-threatening, Battalion Chief Michael Kane said. The shooting happened in the 600 block of Northwest 27th Avenue, near Fort Lauderdale.

Kane said he could not provide additional information because the incident is under investigation.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to an email seeking additional information.
