Fort Lauderdale mayor questions high cost of temporary housing for the homeless

Broward County has allocated $250,000 to build a dozen or so pallet homes and $500,000 to operate them. “What kind of crazy operation is that?” Mayor Dean Trantalis asked during a recent meeting. A county commissioner says the county allocated “a very small amount of money as a placeholder.”
