‘Bad Boys 4’ filming to shut down Fort Lauderdale beach traffic on Monday

A couple of “Bad Boys” will shut down traffic on Fort Lauderdale beach on Monday.

The city has issued an advisory alerting motorists that filming for the Will Smith-Martin Lawrence sequel “Bad Boys 4” is expected to close northbound State Road A1A and other beach-adjacent roads throughout the day.

The moviemaking will involve the following Fort Lauderdale areas between 6 a.m. and noon:

  • A1A between Las Olas Boulevard and Bayshore Drive
  • Poinsettia Street
  • Cortez Street
  • Castillo Street
  • Sebastian Street

Drivers are urged to detour through Seabreeze Boulevard, which “will be converted to one lane in each direction to accommodate traffic flow,” according to the city.

“Bad Boys. Miami. Last eight days!” actor Will Smith hyped on his Instagram account on Wednesday, posting video that shows him executing an action stunt on a dock overlooking what appears to be the Intracoastal Waterway.

“That hurt my back,” he said jokingly, as a remixed version of his hit single “Miami” plays in the background.

“Damn, I LOVE this city! Bad Boys 4 is coming fast y’all,” he added in the Instagram caption.

On Wednesday, the Academy Award winner was spotted at Inter Miami’s season-opener soccer match at Fort Lauderdale’s newly named Chase Stadium — and even greeted superstar Lionel Messi from the stands.

The “Bad Boys” franchise has filmed scenes in South Florida since it began with the 1995 original box-office smash hit.

This fourth long-awaited, buddy-cop action-comedy sequel, which has no official title yet, reunites Smith and Lawrence as Miami narcotics detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, respectively. It halted production in July 2023 due to the SAG-AFTRA strike but is currently scheduled for release on June 14.

“Bad Boys 4” is directed by Belgian-Moroccan filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who helmed the third installment in the series, 2020’s “Bad Boys For Life.”
