Pembroke Pines officer fatally shot dog during attack while serving court order

A Pembroke Pines Police officer shot a dog dead Wednesday morning during an attack, officials said.

The incident happened in the 21600 block of Northwest Third Place, according to reports.

The officer was serving a court injunction and was bitten, prompting the officer to shoot, Amanda Conwell, a police department spokesperson, said in an email.

The dog’s owner has been arrested on charges of resisting arrest with violence and battery on a law enforcement officer, Conwell said.

Fire Rescue treated the officer’s injuries, but Conwell did not provide details about the extent of the injuries. Further details have not been released.
