Worker killed at Port Everglades

FORT LAUDERDALE — An investigation is under way in the death of a worker at Port Everglades on Friday.

Initial reports from the Broward Sheriff’s Office indicate the worker was atop a silo and was injured by machinery.

The address of the incident, 2600 Eisenhower Blvd., is associated with  Heidelberg Materials, Cement, at the port. Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue personnel are at the scene, and rescue crews are retrieving the body from the silo.

No other injuries were reported.
