Cardinal Newman four-star prospect Ricky Knight III picks Florida State over Hurricanes

Cardinal Newman star Ricky Knight III decided to stay in his home state, but he decided against the school closest to home.

Knight, a four-star cornerback, committed to Florida State on Saturday afternoon, choosing the Seminoles over Miami and Illinois while announcing his decision on 247Sports’ YouTube channel.

“Florida State is definitely on the uprising, as well, especially with their ‘Tribe ’24’ class,” Knight told the South Florida Sun Sentinel before he committed. “It’s looking nice also. There will be some good additions, and it really should help boost them a lot because their 2023 class is pretty good also.”

Knight, who is rated the No. 30 athlete and No. 402 player in the 2024 class by 247Sports’ composite rankings, took an official visit to FSU in June and previously visited Tallahassee twice in the spring. He said a cooking competition was one of the highlights of his official trip.

Knight has played defensive back and wide receiver in high school, but he will likely play cornerback at FSU. He had 33 tackles and one interception last season.

Knight is the third Palm Beach County player to join FSU’s 2024 class, along with Atlantic linebacker Jayden Parrish and American Heritage-Delray kicker Jake Weinberg.
