Single-car crash on I-95 kills 25-year old passenger, injures 22-year old driver

One woman is dead and another is seriously injured after a single-car crash on an Interstate 95 exit ramp in Hollywood early Saturday morning.

Around 3:30 a.m., the two women were driving in a sedan southbound on the outside left turn lane of the exit ramp from I-95 to Pembroke Road, according to a Florida Highway Patrol media release. The driver was a 22-year old woman from Dania Beach and the passenger was a 25-year old woman from Hallandale Beach.

Neither woman was identified.

The car “failed to safely complete the left turn” onto Pembroke Road, the release said, moving southbound through the intersection of Pembroke Road and I-95 until it crashed into the curb on the outside shoulder of the eastbound lanes of the road.

Afterwards, the car continued moving south, colliding with a sign support pole in the grass shoulder south of Pembroke Road and east of the I-95 entrance ramp, which caused it to spin counterclockwise before colliding with another sign support pole, finally coming to rest on the grass shoulder.

It is unclear what caused the crash. The investigation is ongoing, according to the release.
