The National Weather Service Miami issued a tornado warning for parts of Broward County after a waterspout was sighted and approached shore.
The waterspout was spotted about 12:45 p.m. just offshore of Dania Beach and Hollywood, slowly approaching the beach. It made landfall briefly near the Hollywood Broadwalk before dissipating.
The tornado warning expired at 1:15 p.m., but indicated that atmospheric conditions may be conducive to the formation of additional waterspouts.
Friday’s weather alert comes only a week after flash flooding inundated the central part of Broward County, leaving many neighborhoods still recovering from the deluge.
