A 16-year-old is charged with attempted murder after a fight in Lauderhill turned into a shooting that left another minor paralyzed from the waist down, according to police.

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Tremetrius Price on Thursday, nearly two months after the shooting. He is being held at the Paul Rein Detention Facility in Pompano Beach.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel is identifying Price because he has been charged as an adult.

Cellphone video depicted a fight between Price and an unidentified male on Dec. 6, 2022, in a roadway in Lauderhill, according to the probable cause affidavit. The other male struck Price while he was on the ground, before Price got up and interacted with another person who was not visible in the footage.

The word “gun” is heard, and then the sound of a gunshot, the affidavit states. The person recording the video begins to run as a second shot is heard.

A third shot is then heard, and the person recording the video on the cellphone yells as if in pain and falls to the ground.

A witness who was involved in the fight told detectives that he saw a 15-year old boy give Price the gun, and that he saw a shot fired as soon as Price took it. The witness attempted to run away, fell, and then hid, and later saw a person on the ground. The person’s name is redacted in the affidavit.

The juvenile victim, whose name is redacted from the affidavit, had gunshot wounds to his neck and sternum, according to the affidavit. Lauderhill Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the victim to Broward Health Medical Center. He was intubated, underwent multiple surgeries, and is paralyzed from the waist down.

A Lauderhill detective investigating the case recognized Price from a previous case, and was able to identify him using body camera footage from that case, according to the affidavit.
