2 people injured in shooting on Interstate 95 in Fort Lauderdale

Two people were injured Sunday in a shooting on Interstate 95 in Fort Lauderdale, and a third shooting victim may also be involved.

The shooting occurred about 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the southbound lanes between the Sunrise and Broward boulevard exits. When law enforcement officers from the Florida Highway Patrol and Fort Lauderdale Police Department arrived, they discovered a man and a woman who said they had been shot by someone in another car.

Both were taken to Broward Health Medical Center; the woman’s injuries are considered life-threating, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The Sheriff’s Office investigation revealed the Nissan Sentra in which they were riding had been sideswiped by a white BMW. Shots were fired after an argument between the two victims and the BMW driver.

Another victim, identified at a local hospital, was also shot and that shooting appears related to the BMW incident, the Sheriff’s Office said. That victim, a juvenile girl, has non-life-threatening injuries.
