Video shows man dressed as security guard robbing cellphone store at gunpoint | Watch

It’s been nearly three weeks since a man dressed in a security guard uniform walked into a cellphone store in Lauderdale Lakes, pointed a gun at the lone employee and fled with thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. The Broward Sheriff’s Office is still searching for the suspect.

Surveillance video shows the man parking a blue sedan with plastic covering the top and damage on the hood shortly after 11:30 a.m. July 22. He was dressed in a gray top with a badge on the left arm and left-front pocket, dark pants, a hat and a face mask.

Inside the Mobile One store, the suspect casually walked in and browsed the glass display cases as an employee behind the counter directed him toward one of the cases, surveillance video shows.

The employee talked to the suspect briefly before he suddenly pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the employee and handed him a bag. The employee hurriedly opened the case and stuffed merchandise inside, the video showed.

The Sheriff’s Office said the suspect came into the store attempting to sell his phone before saying he wanted to buy a new one. He fled with about $7,000 worth of phones.

The suspect is seen on the surveillance video snatching the bag from the employee, still pointing the gun as he turned and ran away. He is then seen running into his car shortly after 11:45 a.m. and peeling away from the lot in the 3600 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard.

Investigators ask anyone with information on who the suspect is or the circumstances of the robbery to call Det. Mark Copley at 954-321-4738 or submit a tip through Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 or online at browardcrimestoppers.org.
