MAP: Here’s the latest forecast track of likely Tropical Storm Alex

South Florida Sun-Sentinel

Tropical storm warnings were lifted for many parts of Florida around midday Saturday as a system moved onshore and across the state, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The system is likely to form into Tropical Storm Alex, which would make it the first named Atlantic storm of the 2022 hurricane season, the hurricane center said. That is not expected to happen, however, until the storm passes over Florida and moves over the Atlantic Ocean.

The forecast calls for heavy rain over South Florida and the Florida Keys Friday night into Saturday.
