Semi-truck catches fire in multi-vehicle crash on Florida’s Turnpike in Boynton Beach

A crash involving a tractor-trailer and several other commercial vehicles led to an hours-long shutdown of all southbound lanes on Florida’s Turnpike in Boynton Beach Tuesday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a tractor-trailer caught fire in the crash, which took place near mile marker 85 at about 6:09 a.m.


Palm Beach County Fire Rescue extinguished the flames and took one driver to Bethesda West hospital.

Southbound traffic was diverted off the Turnpike at Exit 86/State Road 804. All lanes reopened shortly before 1 p.m.


Several people were hurt, but their injuries were not serious, the FHP said.
