Williams and Razafindranaly earn SSC Weekly Player Honors

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference announced the SSC Athletes of the Week awards for the week ending on April 10. Nova Southeastern Sharks student-athletes Julie Razafindranaly (Women’s Tennis) and Tia Williams (Softball) took home their first career conference awards.  

Razafindranaly led the nation’s No. 2 team to a perfect week with shut-out wins over both Keiser – the No. 2 team in NAIA – and No. 16 Rollins. The nation’s No. 6 player combined to go 4-0 at No. 2 doubles and No. 1 singles, including a 6-2 doubles victory and then a 6-1, 6-2 effort against Keiser before a 6-0 performance in doubles followed by a three-set win over the nation’s No. 32 ranked player at Rollins. Razafindranaly is now 11-1 at No. 1 this season. NSU concluded SSC play at 8-1.  

Razafindranaly and the Sharks have won five consecutive matches, holding an overall record of 17-2 on the 2021-22 season. NSU will be back in action on Wed., April 13, against Florida National from the NSU Tennis Complex.  

Williams torched the Eckerd pitching staff this past weekend, posting a slash line of .727/.727/.818 to lead the Sharks to a three-game sweep on the road. Williams finished a combined 8-of-11 at the plate to go along with 6 RBI, 5 runs scored and 3 stolen bases. The NSU shortstop tallied multiple hits in all three games, including a pair of three-hit performances, and also notched at least one RBI in each contest. In game two of the weekend, Williams finished 3-for-4 with 4 RBI, 3 runs scored and a stolen base. NSU outscored Eckerd by a combined margin of 24-6 during the series and remains tied atop the SSC standings at 14-4 in league play. 

Williams leads the Sharks into a Sunshine State Conference series against Palm Beach Atlantic beginning on 4/14 from the A.D. Griffin Sports Complex.
