‘We had a good life’: Family flees war in Ukraine and finds refuge in South Florida

While staying with friends in Sunny Isles Beach, she has been in constant contact with friends and cousins still in Ukraine, getting only a few hours of sleep a night. She’s getting a steady dose of details of the harsh reality: the fear, the noise, the friends who are cooking food for the soldiers, and the people cramped together in subway stations hiding from rockets, sharing a public bathroom and depending on volunteers to dole out food.
