‘Deep fire’ inside partially collapsed condo tower in southern Florida slows search for 159 people still missing

The race to rescue survivors from what remained of the Champlain Towers South in Surfside, a quiet town just outside Miami Beach, continued despite the fire, Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava told reporters during a later morning news conference. As of Saturday, 159 people remained unaccounted in wake of Thursday’s collapse, which also left at least four dead.
