FAU should ‘ban the box’ and quit asking students about their arrest records, professors urge

Every Florida public university asks some variation of the question of criminal background, but not all state colleges do. In South Florida, Broward College, Miami-Dade College and Palm Beach State College do not, according to representatives from those schools. Students admitted to certain programs, such as paramedic or nursing programs at Palm Beach State College, for example, still would need to undergo a background check.
