Born on July 29, 1977, Schwartzenberger grew up in Pueblo, Co., the foothills of Rocky Mountains. As someone with both grit and grace, Schwartzenberger dove competitively in high school. She studied criminology at Northeastern University in Boston and then got her master’s degree in international studies at University of Denver.
