From the Desk of Nova Southeastern Director of Athletics Michael Mominey
February 2, 2021
To our One Shark Family,
First off, I would like to wish each and every one of you a belated Happy New Year and a sincere welcome back to campus for a much anticipated semester. While we look ahead to the coming months, I’d like to rewind a bit and applaud you for your efforts and the stellar job you exhibited throughout the fall. A department-wide GPA of 3.41 is no easy feat. That mark not only set a record for the best semester in NSU athletics history, but is an accomplishment to be even more proud of considering these unprecedented times. In fact, we had all 16 teams achieve at least a 3.0 GPA. Well done!
With that being said, I can’t stress enough how it important it is to remain focused, remain vigilant and stay the course in regards to the information and updates surrounding the COVID-19 safety protocols coming from the athletic department and the university. Although your seasons and competitions look much different right now, we still have the opportunity to accomplish our goals in a variety of ways. With 2021 just underway, there’s no better time to rethink and reshape your goals, and figure out your “why” of what you can do to make an impact both within and outside of NSU. I urge you to take advantage of the resources on campus and the numerous education and professional development programs we have to offer. Get involved, or even more involved, with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee or through actively participating in the opportunities offered by our Academic Services and Sports Performance. Seek out a new role through community service and engagement. There are endless avenues that you can explore to better yourself and make a difference. I, along with my staff and our coaches, are here to serve as resources to you for anything and everything you may need to make your experience the best it can be while you are here at NSU.
But most importantly, please make it a priority to continue taking care of yourselves and taking care of each other. We are One Shark Family and I’m excited to see the all that we can accomplish together!
Go Sharks!
