New School Board members could put focus on safety and teacher raises

Leonardi defeated Heather Brinkworth, who had been on the board since 2014, for a seat representing Fort Lauderdale, Oakland Park, Wilton Manors and part of Pompano Beach. Hixon won a countywide seat, defeating four candidates to replace Robin Bartleman, who left after 16 years to run for the state Legislature.
