Rick Scott, R-Fla., who was governor at the time of the massacre, said in a prepared statement that “the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and the loss of 17 innocent lives was heartbreaking for the entire school, Parkland community, and state of Florida. This heartbreak lives on every day for the survivors, family members and first responders involved.”
