Charleston, S.C., hit by gusts up to 80 mph as Hurricane Dorian pulls closer to the city

Historic downtown Charleston, S.C., one of the most popular tourist destinations in the southeast, was beginning to flood, as heavy rains and storm surge brought standing water into the streets. A 78-mph gust was recorded in Charleston harbor shortly before noon. More than 200,000 power outages were reported across South Carolina, according to the Charleston Post and Courier.
