Hurricane Dorian track finally moves clear of South Florida, but forecasters warn it could change again

At the storm’s powerful core, centered all day on Grand Bahama island, winds diminished to 145 mph, leaving Dorian a still-formidable Category 4 storm, as forecasters waited for it to execute a long-awaited turn north. Although throughout Monday the storm was described as traveling west at 1 mph, by 5 p.m. forecasters say it simply stopped and described its forward progress all day as minimal.
