
First Chazz Palminteri turned his story into the hit one-man play “A Bronx Tale,” which recounted his rough-and-tumble childhood where the actor played 18 roles. Then the show became a movie in 1993 and was the directorial debut for Robert De Niro. In 2016 the musical version — co-directed by De Niro and Jerry Zaks —debuted on Broadway. The show featured a doo-wop score by Alan Menken (“The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin”) and Glenn Slater (“Sister Act,” “School of Rock,” “Love Never Dies”). The Broadway national tour runs June 11-23 at various times at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, 201 SW Fifth Ave., in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets range from $40-$145.
