A couple was robbed of a car and valuables by an armed man in a Pompano Beach park, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
The carjacking happened April 29 at about 1:15 p.m. in Apollo Park, at 1580 NW Third Ave. The park is west of North Dixie Highway and the Pompano Beach Air Park.
The man approached the couple, showed them a gun and demanded their property, sheriff’s spokeswoman Joy Oglesby said.
The gunman took the woman’s blue 2006 Pontiac Vibe, which also held her purse and other valuables that were not described by investigators.
The Florida tag number on the stolen car is 038 QIP.
Deputies are searching for a man who could be between the age of 28 and 40, Oglesby said. He may be up to 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weigh from 145 to 160 pounds.
Detectives consider him to be armed and dangerous, Oglesby said.
The sheriff’s office asks anyone with information about the car or the man portrayed in the sketch to call Detective Nicole Haugh at 954-321-4253.
Anonymous tipsters may call Broward County Crime Stoppers, at 954-493-8477. That organization pays up to $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
