All of the southbound lanes of I-95 in Deerfield Beach are closed after a severe crash between Sample Road and Southwest 10th Street left two small children with life-threatening injuries.
The crash happened just after 11 a.m. and involved at least two vehicles, according to Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue.
One of the vehicles was driven by a male who had minor injuries that didn’t require hospitalization.
In the other vehicle were three people — a woman and two young girls. The woman’s injuries were non-life threatening but the young girls “received severe injuries which are considered life-threatening,” Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue said.
“One was flown by air, the other transported by ground. Firefighters were aggressively working to stabilize their conditions.
It wasn’t known when Interstate 95 would reopen.
Traffic cameras showed that all southbound traffic was being diverted off the exit ramp on to the SW 10th St.
