A married couple from Lighthouse Point died after their boat crashed into a jetty in Government Cut in Miami, according to news reports.
The fatal wreck also sent one person to the hospital and prompted a search for a fourth passenger, WSVN-Ch. 7 reported.
The Saturday night outing started as a birthday celebration, the station reported, but ended after the boat smashed into a jetty and capsized immediately.
The deceased couple was identified by the Miami Herald as Christopher and Elisaine Colgan.
Elisaine Colgan was a licensed real estate agent and Christopher Colgan was an experienced fisherman, according to the Herald. They were parents of a teenage son who was not on the boat at the time.
“I’m just shocked. I don’t understand any of it,” their son, 16-year-old Chris Colgan Jr., told Ch. 7. “I just feel terrible. I feel like I’m in a nightmare, and I can’t wake up.”
The crash occurred in the same place as where former Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez died in 2016 after his boat crashed into the jetty, killing him and two others.
