The video showing white Broward Sheriff’s deputies violently pounding a black teen’s head against the pavement is sparking outrage and condemnation across social media.
A hashtag, #JusticeForLucca, is also accompanying the furor online as critics of the deputies’ actions said the boy, whose first name is reportedly Lucca, deserves to see the deputies face stiff consequences.
The incident happened outside a McDonald’s on Pine Island Road on Thursday. Since then new Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony has promised a thorough investigation while debate rages nationally.
Reaction was also continuing to bubble on social media from everyday users as well as celebrities, athletes and activists including LeBron James, activist Shaun King, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Kenny Stills, and others.
