He wanted a pack of smokes so badly that he hit a convenience store manager in the head with a bottle, and now Miramar police say they are looking for the disgruntled customer.
Police Thursday released security surveillance images from the incident in the hopes of turning up leads in the case.
The customer walked into the Kwik Stop food store at 2701 S.W. 64th Ave. just before 9 p.m. March 29. He wanted to buy a $7 pack of cigarettes but only had $3, according to the police report.
He got upset and started yelling when manager Osman Goni, 46, said he could not sell the cigarettes for less than $7, police said.
Goni repeatedly told the customer to leave the store, but the man went to the cooler, grabbed a bottle and threw it at Goni’s head, cutting him above his right eye, investigators said.
The assailant left the store and drove away in a black Acura, but Goni saw no license plate on the car, police said.
Goni said the man had come into his store before but Goni didn’t know his name.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-8477 or online at browardcrimestoppers.org. A reward of up to $3,000 can be awarded to anyone with a tip that leads to an arrest.
