A body was found in the Oregon home of original Disney Mouseketeer Dennis Day on Thursday, eight months after the former child star went missing.
Dennis Day, 76, had not been seen in the small town of Phoenix since July.
“The way it looks now, unless we find a body, we’re not going to find him,” sister Nelda Adkins told USA Today in February.
The Oregon State Police said in a statement that “human remains” were found at the home. Multiple agencies are assisting with the investigation, including the Oregon State Police Forensics Lab.
“At this time, the human remains have not been identified and the investigation is ongoing,” the state police said.
Day was a member of Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club for two years in the 1950s. The club later featured such modern stars as Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and Ryan Gosling.
Concerned friends, family and fans launched a “Help Us Find Dennis Day” public Facebook page, which has more than 500 members.
“2 DOGS & A DRONE SEARCH for my Uncle Dennis will be starting today at 2pm,” Denise Norris posted earlier this month. “We are asking for LOTS of prayers that he will be found. We need this nightmare to end!”
