After nearly three hours of negotiations Friday night, a man barricaded inside a West Palm Beach home killed himself, authorities said.
Deputies from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office went to the scene of a reported shooting at about 7:40 p.m., a spokeswoman said.
Once there, they found a man with a gunshot wound in the front yard of a home in the 900 block of Summit Lake Drive, said Teri Barbera, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office said.
With the armed suspect inside the home, rescuers cautiously moved the injured man from the yard to nearby paramedics who pronounced him dead on scene, she said.
SWAT members tried to negotiate with the armed man in the residence and eventually went inside, Barbera said. That’s when they found his body.
“It appears the suspect took his own life,” she said.
The investigation is ongoing.
