Time’s running out for people who’d like to tour a naval ship during Fort Lauderdale’s Fleet Week celebration April 29 to May 6.
The visiting submarine is completely booked and all the weekend ship tours have been filled since registration opened on Thursday.
But there’s still weekday tour space available on the visiting ships:
— USS New York, an amphibious transport dock and lead ship for this year’s event.
— USS Farragut, a destroyer.
— USS Hue City, a guided missile cruiser.
— USS Milwaukee, a littoral combat ship.
— USCGC William Flores, a fast response cutter.
Free public tours of the ships at Port Everglades are still available for April 30 and May 1-3. People can sign up for a tour at BrowardNavyDaysInc.org.
The Broward Navy Days event is sponsored this year by Ed Morse Automotive Group. The ships are not handicapped accessible and not available for children under the age of 5.
Advance registration is needed because of port security procedures. The free tickets can only be used by the registered person; they cannot be given to someone else.
