Detectives may have identified the driver involved in a hit and run that killed a pedestrian in Deerfield Beach, but they say he is evading capture and they are seeking the public’s help to find him.
Michael David Green, 68, of Boca Raton, is wanted in connection with the death of Grigoriy A. Berkolayko, 60, of Deerfield Beach, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.
Pictures were released, Friday, of Green and a 2006 gray Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with minor damage on the front passenger side that investigators said Green may be trying to repair before he is found.
The extended-cab pickup was damaged when Berkolayko was struck about 7:20 p.m. March 8, as he was walking east across North Federal Highway near a crosswalk at Northeast Eller Street, detectives said.
Witnesses said the truck slowed down and almost stopped before turning west on Northeast Eller Street, officials said.
Berkolayko was taken to Broward Health North medical center where he died of his his injuries the next day, investigators said.
The picture shows Green with a thin build and full gray beard, wearing a light-colored long sleeve shirt, plaid blue shorts and blue sneakers. Green also had two pairs of glasses, one of which was hanging from his shirt, detectives said.
Traffic homicide investigators are asking anyone with information about the fatal hit and run or Green’s whereabouts to contact Detective Anthony Morales at 954-321-4840.
Anonymous tips can be left with Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 or online at browardcrimestoppers.org. Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.
